Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most famous and respected grape varieties, and it’s traditional home is in France. Cabernet wine is prized for it’s bold, assertive and structured character, and is often referred to as the king of red wine. Eight Point Crown Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in the rocky, sandy vineyards of Southern France. The warm climate, well-draining soils and abundant sunshine influence consistency across vintages, resulting in a wine that is powerfully built and muscular, yet also featuring ample fruit and an accessible nature. Eight Point Crown is your conduit to the long tradition of Cabernet production, a fine place to begin your exploration of one of the world’s greatest grape varieties.

WINE PROFILE

Our French Cabernet pours an intense ruby red color with a granite red rim. Black cherries are dominant on the nose, along with currant and spices such as clove and white pepper, underlined by a fine, woody complexity. The palate is firm and rugged, with notes of black cherry, cassis and cedar, framed by lively tannins and a well-balanced acidity. A blockbuster wine, with a long, well-delineated finish.

FOOD COMBINATIONS
Braised rabbit, Roquefort cheese, pepperoni pizza, roast leg of lamb, carne asada, pasta with spicy red sauce.

CALLING THE CAB

These days, IGP d'Oc is producing wines that are worthy of the AOP status of the more famous Languedoc-Rousillon regions. The region calls to us through its willingness to re-think the potential of familiar grapes, a story retold in the granite, schist and flint soils unique to the area. Every time we visit, we are treated to a new take, a pleasant surprise.

“This IGP d'Oc Cabernet Sauvignon retains the grape's signature robust fruit profile and sturdy tannins, but takes on a darker, more succulent flavor profile as a result of the Mediterranean climate and cooling winds. We are proud to offer this exotic and unique version of Cabernet, with its intensity of fruit character and dense, concentrated structure evoking the warm, dry, rocky hillsides from where it came.

WINEMAKING PROCESS

Eight Point Crown Cabernet Sauvignon undergoes a cool, prolonged fermentation in stainless steel tanks under the watchful eye of one of the region’s most talented enologists. Our Pays d’Oc Cabernet is aged in oak before being carefully bottled under rigorous quality control standards to ensure optimum terroir expression and fruit purity.
